Overview
The Corporate Controls MES Engineer will be a member of the Corporate Controls Engineering Department with a focus on delivering business intelligence services utilizing the company's Control Systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and/or Microsoft SQL.
They will work on Controls and Automation projects to support the installation of new Control System MES functionality and the upgrade of existing Control System MES functionality at all company facilities.
The Corporate Controls MES Engineer will report directly to either the Corporate Controls Engineering Manager or an Engineering Team Leader.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Corporate Controls MES Engineer include, but are not limited to providing research services, application development, documentation, training, troubleshooting, and maintenance for the following:
- AVEVA/Wonderware's Archestra Control System additions as needed to support MES applications to provide the needed MES functionality and information for operations.
- AVEVA's Operations, Performance, and Quality MES modules.
- Rockwell PLCs as needed to provide the needed MES data and MES functionality.
- Data feeds to external partners using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (2019+).
- Microsoft Server, Microsoft SQL Server (2019+), and Microsoft Reporting Services.
- Power BI report development.
- Gathering and understanding business requirements for data visualization and analysis.
- Collaboration with engineers and analysts to acquire, clean, and transform data for reporting purposes.
Skills and Experience Requirements
The skills and experience of the Corporate Controls MES Engineer should include most of the following:
- 5+ years working within an Engineering role in a manufacturing company, in the Food & Beverage, Chemical, Plastics, Consumer Goods, or similar industry, is required.
- Ladder Logic Programming skill within Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix) is required.
- Advanced HMI system development is required. Examples of acceptable HMI systems are Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE, AVEVA Wonderware Archestra, iFix, and Ignition.
- Expertise with SQL Server and SQL database systems is required.
- Expertise with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Excel is required.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills is required.
- Ability to write, update and troubleshoot existing SQL queries is required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
- Adaptability to changing business requirements is required.
- Excellent formal and informal communication skills, collaboration skills, professional attitude, and professional appearance are required.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office) are required.
- Experience with Wonderware (AVEVA) ArchestrA System Platform preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C# is preferred.
- Experience with Ethernet/IP Communication within a Plant Control System is preferred.
- Experience with AVEVA MES, or a similar Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platform, is preferred.
- Experience with .NET programming environment is preferred.
- Experience with Power BI report development, including data modeling, reports, and dashboards is preferred.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and data visualization concepts is preferred.
- Knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) for creating calculations is preferred.
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts is preferred.
- Knowledge of data modeling is preferred.
- Familiarity with other data visualization tools is preferred.
- Power BI certifications are preferred.
