Overview
A leading food manufacturer is seeking a new EHS Manager to create, oversee, and implement EHS strategies and programs, ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and effective risk management practices. This role will spearhead EHS enhancements and play a pivotal role in fostering high levels of engagement and empowerment among employees.
Responsibilities
- Drive cultural transformation towards EHS Excellence.
- Foster a culture of integrity, credibility, and accountability by conducting regular reviews and assessments to gauge cultural progress.
- Provide strategic leadership and collaborate with plant management to identify and capitalize on EHS improvement opportunities, enhancing EHS culture and performance.
- Offer expert technical knowledge on EHS issues, programs, and processes to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and local and national regulations, permits, and requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs in line with local, state, and federal regulations and company expectations.
- Oversee Compliance Audits, Self-Audits, and Action Item tracking, ensuring timely closure. Conduct trend analysis and develop appropriate action plans.
- Manage interactions and communicate effectively with all organizational levels, external support/consulting groups, and regulatory agencies.
- Lead Safety Committees and other employee involvement programs.
- Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and analyze EHS data and trends, preparing and presenting reports and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Promote a positive and proactive EHS culture within the organization, fostering employee engagement and awareness.
Qualifications
- A B.S. Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in driving a robust and sustainable EH&S program.
- Preferred professional certifications include CSP, ASP, or CIH.
- Experience facilitating internal audits and preparing for external audits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS software applications.
- Ability to maintain a presence on the floor across all shifts.
- A hands-on approach, with the ability to work as an integral part of the management team and engage with and influence all levels of the organization.
- Capability to identify, assess, and lead/execute multiple continuous improvement projects simultaneously; must be able to work independently and demonstrate results.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Essential strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Business acumen, strategic planning, and highly developed leadership skills.
- Working knowledge of EHS practices, regulations, and potential EHS risks.
- Ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity.
