Maintenance Engineer

Summary
A leading Specialty Chemical Company is looking for a new Maintenance Engineer to help build out their reliability engineering process. This is a full time position in Gurnee, IL. Relocation available if needed.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the inspection and routine maintenance of equipment.
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions in the field, including root cause analysis and developing action plans.
- Provide support for a 24-hour operation, including occasional off-shift work.
- Oversee and participate in mechanical repairs, such as pumps, gear reducers, seals, bearings, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, blowers, and conveyors.
- Manage and permit work performed by external contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.
- Ensure the safe operation of the facility by maintaining equipment to standards.
- Review daily work orders, ensure accurate data collection, and generate reports as needed.
- Ensure plant maintenance activities comply with the Process Safety Management (PSM) Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff; create or update maintenance procedures.
- Collaborate with the parts team to maintain maintenance supplies and equipment stocks.
- Follow all safety and performance regulations.
- Perform other assigned tasks as required.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
- At least 10 years of experience in a Maintenance Engineer role.
- Prior experience in the chemical manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.
