Position Overview: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the maintenance activities within a corrugated packaging manufacturing facility. The role includes managing a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment, and maintaining the facility's infrastructure. The Maintenance Manager will work closely with other departments to minimize downtime, increase operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all production and facility equipment.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Lead and manage the scheduling of emergency repairs and unscheduled maintenance work.
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Supervise, mentor, and train a team of maintenance technicians and ensure they have the necessary tools and resources.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and assist with career development of team members.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Oversee and perform maintenance and repair of production equipment including corrugators, printing presses, die-cutters, and other machinery.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure equipment is operating at optimal levels to support production goals.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Monitor the facility's safety programs, conduct safety audits, and address any safety concerns.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with environmental and regulatory standards.
Budget Management:
- Assist in developing and managing the maintenance department's budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions for repairs and upgrades.
- Monitor inventory levels for spare parts and consumables, and manage procurement in line with budgetary constraints.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead and support initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
- Identify areas for process improvements and contribute to the optimization of manufacturing operations.
- Implement best practices in maintenance management, equipment reliability, and energy management.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including preventive and corrective actions.
- Track equipment performance and maintenance history to support decision-making.
- Prepare and present regular maintenance reports to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance management, ideally within a corrugated packaging or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
- Experience managing a team and leading projects.
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment used in the corrugated packaging industry.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and experience in managing safety programs.
- Budget management experience, including cost control and inventory management.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of working in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, noise, and machinery).
