Job Summary:
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician Level 2 is responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical systems and equipment, including motors, pumps, HVAC systems, and other machinery. This position requires troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair expertise, along with the ability to operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and backhoes within the facility. The technician will ensure that mechanical systems are running at optimal efficiency while adhering to safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on motors, pumps, compressors, HVAC systems, conveyors, and other mechanical components.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in the installation, calibration, and commissioning of new machinery or systems.
- Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and backhoes to transport heavy equipment, materials, and machinery around the facility as needed.
- Conduct inspections and testing of mechanical systems to ensure they are functioning properly and meeting safety compliance standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and labor hours.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Report mechanical failures, safety issues, or equipment performance problems to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager.
- Collaborate with other maintenance teams to resolve issues that require both mechanical and electrical expertise.
- Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, assisting with ordering replacement parts as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing downtime and enhancing equipment reliability.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and backhoes safely and efficiently (certifications required).
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in industrial environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, management, and other departments.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and backhoes.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, noisy environments).
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift, crane, and backhoe certification or extensive experience in operating such equipment.
- Experience with HVAC, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
