The Plant Superintendent will provide direction, guidance, and growth opportunities to supervisors by overseeing processes, resources, and workforce management to achieve or surpass set budgets and performance targets.
Job Responsibilities:
- Uphold the highest safety standards, clearly communicating a safety-focused vision.
- Set and enforce quality and production standards for the sawmill.
- Foster employee involvement and effective work systems by motivating both direct and indirect reports, actively seeking their feedback, encouraging open communication across the organization, and demonstrating leadership by example.
- Ensure departmental budgets and performance targets are met or exceeded by regularly communicating goals, tracking progress, providing necessary training, managing resources, organizing schedules, and facilitating problem-solving efforts.
- Oversee product specifications, emphasizing the production of high-quality goods, performing routine quality checks, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Take responsibility for meeting targets related to productivity, quality, cost control, and employee engagement, with a strong focus on maintaining safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with the maintenance team to sustain a culture of continuous improvement.
Job Requirements:
- Three to five years related management experience, preferably in a forest, wood or lumber manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical abilities
- Proven ability to collaborate and contribute effectively in a team setting
- Computer application skills.
