Quality Assurance Manager

Position Summary:
Join our dynamic team- as a Quality Assurance Manager! You'll be at the forefront of ensuring top-notch quality standards, driving continuous improvement, and making a significant impact on our operations. Reporting to the Senior Plant Manager, you'll develop and implement quality procedures, conduct engaging training sessions, and communicate the exciting results of our quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Quality Initiatives: Implement and oversee the Quality system, including innovative processes, programs, and QA procedures.
- Investigate and Innovate: Dive into product quality issues (supplier, factory, field-failures) and spearhead actions to prevent recurrence.
- Champion Lean Practices: Support the Lean initiative through 5S audits, Lean team facilitation, and active participation in the Material Review Board.
- Audit Excellence: Manage the internal audit system, ensuring sustained improvements and timely audits.
- Quality Inspections: Perform meticulous inspections on supplier prototypes and production samples using ANSI Z1.4 sampling methods to meet high standards.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Maintain and analyze quality-related databases (scrap, deviation, corrective/preventive action) to drive root cause analysis and preventive actions.
- Precision Management: Oversee the gauge calibration system to ensure the accuracy of measuring devices.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and inspire direct reporting staff and other team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Training and Development: Train and cross-train operators in new operations and methods, ensuring a skilled and versatile workforce.
- Document Control: Manage and maintain controlled documents (procedures, work instructions, records) with precision.
- Professional Growth: Take on additional professional duties as required, contributing to your growth and the success of the team.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, Associate's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Quality Tools Expertise: Familiarity with statistical quality tools (Pareto, histogram, process mapping, process capability, SPC).
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, planning, communication, and motivational skills.
- Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
- Organized: Systematic approach to tasks, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Education: Bachelor of Science in a related field.
- Lean Experience: Experience with Lean methodologies.
- Certified Inspector: American Welding Society Certified Weld Inspector.
- Quality Certifications: Certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, Quality Engineer, or Quality Auditor.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Embrace the excitement of a factory setting, where you'll move around various manufacturing and shipping areas. You'll sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, engaging in lively phone and in-person conversations or meetings. Expect exposure to manufacturing site hazards, including noise, fumes, extreme temperatures, dust, welding arcs, chemicals, fire, smoke, unstable debris, and confined spaces. The environment is fast-paced and demanding, often requiring long days to support a multi-site, four-shift, seven-day-a-week operation.
You'll frequently use your hands for handling files, forms, and computer work, with occasional lifting/moving of up to 20 pounds. Proper ergonomic safeguards must be utilized. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
