Quality Control Manager - Food & Beverage
Position Overview: The QC Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all quality control activities within the manufacturing facility. This pivotal role involves ensuring that products meet or exceed quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in food and beverage quality control, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a commitment to fostering continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, industry standards, and company requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the QC team, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance performance and professional development.
- Oversee the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications and safety standards.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including FDA, USDA, and other relevant standards. Prepare for and manage audits and inspections by regulatory agencies.
- Identify and investigate quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, streamline processes, and reduce waste. Utilize data and metrics to monitor performance and make informed decisions.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of quality control activities, including inspection reports, test results, and quality metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CQE, CQA) are advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing industry (specifically proteins), with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations, quality management systems (e.g., ISO, HACCP), and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools, including statistical analysis and reporting.
