Quality Manager
Position Summary:
A start up Food Manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Manager to lead and oversee the quality control operations at their meat processing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food safety and quality management systems, with hands-on experience in regulatory compliance, including FDA and USDA requirements. The Quality Manager will play a crucial role in setting up and managing a new team, establishing laboratory processes, and ensuring the successful setup and operation of quality control lines. This position requires expertise in writing and implementing SQF (Safe Quality Food) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Quality Assurance team, ensuring effective training, development, and performance.
- Establish and maintain an efficient lab setup, implementing best practices in quality control testing and analysis.
- Oversee the setup and maintenance of the quality control line operations to ensure consistent product quality.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SQF and HACCP plans in compliance with industry standards, FDA, and USDA regulations.
- Monitor compliance with all applicable food safety standards, performing regular audits, inspections, and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and improve processes.
- Maintain records and documentation required for regulatory compliance, product traceability, and quality audits.
- Ensure the proper handling of customer complaints and non-conformance reports, facilitating investigations and resolutions.
- Keep current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and innovations in food safety and quality management.
- Develop and conduct training programs for staff on food safety, quality standards, and HACCP protocols.
- Prepare and lead internal and external audits, ensuring readiness for USDA, FDA, and third-party inspections.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food quality management, specifically in the meat industry.
- Strong experience with FDA and USDA regulations, compliance, and documentation.
- Proven track record of writing and implementing SQF and HACCP plans in a production environment.
- Experience in setting up and managing quality control teams, laboratories, and production lines.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
