Overview: The Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of health and safety among all personnel. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe and accident-free work environment through the effective implementation and management of company-wide safety and training programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage comprehensive safety and training programs to ensure employee safety, minimize workers' compensation liability, and comply with corporate and OSHA requirements.
- Oversee all safety programs and regulatory plans.
- Lead safety training modules, including hands-on demonstrations, verification, and testing of equipment usage, and monitor training effectiveness.
- Lead the plant safety team, conduct monthly team meetings, and track safety metrics.
- Manage daily safety efforts, perform investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop job-specific instructional programs for all plant personnel.
- Coordinate and develop training curriculum programs for all plant personnel.
- Conduct compliance self-audits and support external audits as required.
- Ensure timely reporting and management of claims for work-related illnesses or injuries.
- Assist with environmental regulatory compliance needs for the facility.
Qualifications:
- Solid foundation in safety, workers' compensation, and training knowledge.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and compliance requirements.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Effective leadership and influencing skills.
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Solid business acumen and judgment.
- Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule as necessary.
