Job Description: Sales Director - Italy (Global Freight Forwarder)

With a smaller but fast-expanding setup in Italy, this client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Sales Director to drive local organic growth, lead the sales team, and strengthen our position in the Italian market.
Role Overview:
As the Sales Director for Italy, you will be at the forefront of driving sales performance and building market presence in a competitive, freight forwarding sector. You will lead a small but capable sales team, manage key client relationships, and deliver exceptional results in a growing and diverse business environment and strategy. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the company's global expertise translates into local success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Leadership:
- Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to drive revenue growth and market share in Italy.
- Lead and inspire a team of sales professionals, including field sales managers, inside sales, tender and pricing specialists.
- Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring the team exceeds sales targets and delivers customer value.
- Market Expertise:
- Leverage your deep knowledge of the Italian freight forwarding market to identify opportunities, build relationships, and close deals.
- Analyse market trends, competitors, and customer needs to provide actionable insights.
- Client Engagement:
- Manage relationships with key Italian and international clients, focusing on delivering value and building long-term partnerships.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering tailored solutions from the company's diverse portfolio of freight services.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee the handling of RFQs, network business, and synergies with overseas offices.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution and service delivery.
- Performance & Reporting:
- Track sales metrics and provide regular reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies.
Qualifications:
- Proven Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of sales experience in the freight forwarding or logistics industry, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Italian freight forwarding landscape, including key players, market dynamics, and client requirements.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to balance short-term sales goals with long-term market development.
- Results-Oriented: Strong track record of exceeding sales targets and driving business growth.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills; fluency in Italian and English is mandatory.
