Role Overview
The Sanitation Manager will lead the Sanitation team to ensure full compliance with sanitation and cleaning standards, food safety, and personnel safety, while adhering to all federal, state, and customer requirements. The Sanitation Manager will support the plant in meeting production schedules and achieving manufacturing goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain master sanitation schedules, ensuring effective execution, documentation, and filing of daily housekeeping requirements.
- Ensure proper equipment sanitation and efficient start ups by understanding the manufacturing process and equipment/parts design.
- Maintain sanitation and good repair of all plant areas.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production to validate allergen cleaning effectiveness.
- Coordinate with facility leadership to ensure project readiness and manage work schedules to meet deadlines.
- Order and manage inventory for the Sanitation department, keeping within budget.
- Oversee chemical control within the Sanitation department, working with chemical providers.
- Ensure proper training and documentation for the Sanitation team.
- Continuously train, monitor, and enforce compliance with safety programs, including Lock Out Tag Out, chemical safety, and PPE requirements.
- Create, update, and audit sanitation programs and SSOPs to ensure compliance with FDA and GFSI requirements.
- Assist in updating quality systems related to sanitation, environmental safety, food safety, and quality controls.
- Participate in food safety and plant audits, company audits, and 2nd and 3rd party audits.
- Provide pest control support, working with pest control providers to ensure timely corrective actions.
- Support food safety programs, quality standards, and product legality.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred and/or 3 years of experience in implementing sanitation programs.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Preferred experience with GFSI and FDA.
- HACCP and PCQI certification preferred.
- USDA experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and coaching skills with a passion for driving positive change and developing interdepartmental relationships.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to adapt quickly to change.
- Ability to establish rapport quickly and communicate effectively.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to lead and support multiple projects.
