The Plant Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, specification, and maintenance of the plant's Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage power distribution systems for our 24/7 Food Ingredients Manufacturing Operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, install, operate, and maintain the plant's power distribution systems.
- Serve as the plant's electrical safety advisor and expert.
- Manage power resources, electrical engineering design firms, and contractor support teams.
- Develop technical expertise in others outside the electrical discipline.
- Establish and maintain electrical technical specifications, standards, and guidelines.
- Oversee and maintain plant electrical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to plan, support, and execute capital and sustaining projects aimed at improving safety, reducing costs, enhancing quality, minimizing environmental impacts, and increasing capacity.
- Review project plans to ensure plant power distribution systems can accommodate necessary modifications or additions, ensuring capacity and load balancing.
- Coordinate with the electric utility as needed.
- Oversee electrical contractor deployment and manpower.
- Supervise and enhance low and medium voltage preventative maintenance programs.
- Monitor plant power systems for potential issues and problems.
- Drive corrective actions based on predictive maintenance testing of electrical systems.
- Manage planned plant outages for major electrical and control system upgrades.
- Provide emergency support to ensure continuous 24/7/365 plant operations.
About You:
We are looking for engineers who are passionate about excellence and eager to take on increasing responsibility.
- A BS in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred. Journeyman Electricians with 10+ years of experience in a process manufacturing plant will also be considered.
- Experience with 120V/480V/4160V/15kV power distribution design, installation, and maintenance.
- Experience with Natural Gas Cogeneration Systems is a plus.
- Proficient in power distribution system protection, including short circuit and arc flash analysis, SKM modeling, and relay applications/programming.
- Knowledge of reliability and predictive maintenance testing methods, such as transformer oil testing, infrared scans, partial discharge testing, and ultrasound monitoring.
- Experience with motor control system design and installation.
- Familiarity with specifying instrumentation and electrical equipment.
- Experience supporting and/or managing large capital projects involving electrical and instrumentation construction.
- Working knowledge of NFPA and NEC regulations.
- Self-motivated, independent, and able to take ownership of electrical systems with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
