Position Overview
As the Strategic Category Manager for Sugars and Sweeteners, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement strategy, risk management, and supplier relationships related to these critical commodities. Your role will involve developing and implementing strategies to optimize sourcing, mitigate risk, and drive cost efficiencies while ensuring the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commodity Management: Lead the strategic procurement of sugars and sweeteners, including raw materials such as cane sugar, beet sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and alternative sweeteners. Monitor market trends, supply chain dynamics, and pricing fluctuations to inform sourcing strategies and secure the best value for the company.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with commodity markets, including price volatility, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to safeguard the company's interests and ensure continuity of supply.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with key suppliers of sugars and sweeteners, negotiating favorable contracts and terms. Collaborate with suppliers to drive innovation, improve quality, and achieve sustainability goals while maintaining competitive pricing.
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize the supply chain, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency. Identify opportunities for consolidation, standardization, and value-added partnerships to drive continuous improvement.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including production, quality assurance, finance, and sustainability teams, to align procurement strategies with business objectives. Provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making and drive overall business success.
- Sustainability and Responsible Sourcing: Champion sustainability initiatives and responsible sourcing practices within the sugars and sweeteners category. Ensure compliance with ethical standards, environmental regulations, and industry certifications, promoting transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in strategic procurement, category management, or supply chain management, preferably within the food or agricultural industry.
- In-depth knowledge of sugars and sweeteners markets, including commodities trading, pricing mechanisms, and global supply chains.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, assess risk, and develop actionable insights.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
