A leading industrial machinery manufacturer is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer II to join their Quality Team.
Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) are responsible for coordinating with suppliers and ensuring that quality standards meet organizational requirements. They drive root cause analysis of vendor issues, lead containment and corrective actions, and communicate updates to both internal and external stakeholders. SQEs monitor recurring issues to confirm that countermeasures are effective and robust. Additionally, they support ISO audits by conducting internal audits and updating business processes and flowcharts as needed.
The Supplier Quality Engineer II will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop long-term relationships with suppliers and implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Assist Manufacturing in evaluating and qualifying new supplier materials and parts.
- Support supplier performance improvement projects to enhance their ability to consistently meet Haas requirements. These projects may include process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput assessments, Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen events.
- Analyze and resolve manufacturing and assembly-related issues effectively.
- Maintain the supplier rating system, initiate corrective actions for non-compliance, and report on the causes.
- Conduct random audits of work instructions, process control sheets, and test procedures. Initiate corrective actions and report the results.
- Analyze corrective action activities identified through audits and reviews, and report on trends and results monthly.
- Drive corrective actions for field failures with urgency and teamwork.
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Verify the implementation of solutions.
The ideal Supplier Quality Engineer II candidate will have the following skillset:
- 2+ years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's degree (engineering preferred)
- Proficient in using all department software, including CAD programs, Office products, SAP, and specialized software such as GageTrak and Q-Plus.
- Knowledge of various quality system methodologies: 8D, 5 Why's, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work well with a diverse group of people and function independently without direct supervision.
- Travel required: 0-5%.
