Job Summary: The Category Manager - Chemicals will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing plans for the chemicals category. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the supply chain operates efficiently and cost-effectively. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the chemical industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement category strategies for the procurement of chemicals, aligning with company goals and objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, conducting thorough market and supplier analysis.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure the best value, quality, and delivery performance.
- Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (R&D, production, quality, logistics) to ensure alignment and support for category strategies.
- Analyze market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to identify risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and present category performance reports, forecasts, and budgets to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and ethical standards in procurement activities.
- Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on the chemicals category.
- In-depth knowledge of the chemical industry, market dynamics, and supply chain management.
- Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
