An Industrial Machinery Manufacturing Company is looking to add a Cost Reduction Engineer to their talented team! They are looking for someone who is able to manage global projects related to cost reduction related to parts design. This individual must drive cost, quality, and delivery standards to support the company's product and manufacturing goals globally.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct technical assessments of both potential and existing suppliers' design, manufacturing, and quality expertise.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction through Value Engineering in design and manufacturing processes.
- Utilize engineering experience to estimate the cost of designing and manufacturing parts to support negotiations.
- Collaborate with suppliers to enhance delivery, quality, and cost efficiency by applying lean manufacturing engineering principles to address production constraints from a supply chain perspective.
- Negotiate contracts including price, payment terms, and transportation.
- Benchmark suppliers and market, and estimate costs based on purchasing experience and engineering knowledge of part design and materials.
- Manage major projects by coordinating vendors and commodities.
- Coordinate supplier selection, qualification, and evaluation with other departments.
- Analyze market prices and trends, engineering developments, and improvements in manufacturing methods.
- Follow instructions and procedures, escalate issues impacting workflow and quality, and ensure the proper care and protection of high-value items.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree.
- At least 5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment with experience working with suppliers/vendors/procurement.
- Demonstrated success in a major manufacturing or engineering company, preferably in the automotive or aerospace sectors.
- Solid understanding of processes and operations required to produce parts according to drawings.
- Self-motivated individual capable of functioning as both a team member and team leader, with the flexibility to achieve objectives and adapt approaches as needed.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve conflicting interests and secure cooperation.
- CAD/CAM experience is required - Solidworks is preferred. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- MS Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Exhibits honesty and integrity, consistently adhering to rules, procedures, and policies.
- Experience in international sourcing preferred
- Additional language skills preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Project preferred.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30%, both domestically and internationally.
