The client is a provider of first-class automation solutions in the field of component feeding and handling technology. In this role, you will lead an on-site research and development team dedicated to developing new solutions that benefit customers from a wide range of industries.
You will coordinate product development activities, manage projects, assign tasks and monitor progress. You will also play a key role in training and developing the skills of team members and ensuring good cooperation with other departments and with third parties.

In this role you will be responsible for the following tasks:
Team leader:
- You will have line responsibility for the development team members, including planning resources, assigning tasks, setting and monitoring annual objectives and conducting appraisal interviews.
- Coaching and developing team members to ensure that they have or acquire the knowledge required for their tasks, but also to build skills in areas that will play an important role in the future (e.g. automation, lightweighting, additive manufacturing, innovative materials).
- Hiring new employees as needed and conducting interviews in close coordination with Human Resources and VP Engineering.
Project management:
- Management and implementation of technology and development projects (leading the team, removing obstacles, budget responsibility) to achieve technical and project goals.
- Compliance with the core processes of product realization, product maintenance and discontinuation as well as participation in the continuous improvement of the process landscape.
Management of partner relationships:
- Ensuring close cooperation and exchange with other employees from the areas of innovation and PM (especially with the relevant colleagues from product marketing), from other locations.
- Establishment or expansion of the external partner network.
Who you are:
You help to foster team spirit and keep the team motivated. You analyze a variety of information sources to accurately define problems before moving on to solutions. You stay up to date with the industry you work in to accurately anticipate future trends and impacts.
For this role you need:
- Completed university/technical college degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or a similar field.
- Previous experience in project management and/or project leadership in a manufacturing area (particularly in the area of โโfeeding and handling solutions)
- Good knowledge of 3D CAD design and 2D drawing creation.
- Fluent English and German.
- Creativity and drive for innovation as well as constant learning about new technologies, materials and processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an empathetic approach to team leadership.
- The ability to set high standards for yourself and your team in terms of reliability and quality.
- Willingness to travel to other locations occasionally.
Preferred qualifications that set you apart from others:
- Experience with FEM simulations (CFD, thermal calculations, structural mechanics).
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics or vibration mechanics.
