Job Summary: The Strategic Buyer - Chemicals will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies for chemical products and materials. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective procurement of high-quality chemical products. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in strategic procurement within the chemical industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for the chemicals category, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers through thorough market research and supplier assessments.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure optimal value and quality.
- Manage and develop strong supplier relationships, monitoring performance and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
- Analyze market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to inform and adapt procurement strategies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (R&D, production, quality, logistics) to ensure seamless integration and support of procurement activities.
- Conduct cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement function.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on procurement performance, savings, and key metrics to senior management.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, policies, and ethical standards in procurement activities.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to drive efficiency and innovation in the supply chain.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic procurement, specifically within the chemicals category.
- In-depth knowledge of the chemical industry, market dynamics, and supply chain management.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken. Additional language skills are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
