About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Sustainability Procurement Manager to join our commercial bank's procurement team. This role focuses on embedding sustainable and responsible sourcing practices across the organization. As the Sustainability Procurement Manager, you will play a crucial role in aligning our procurement strategy with our sustainability goals, working closely with stakeholders to minimize environmental impact, manage social risks, and drive positive change through our supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Sustainable Sourcing Strategy: Develop and lead the bank's sustainable sourcing strategy, aligning it with our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. Identify and drive initiatives to reduce environmental impact, enhance ethical sourcing, and promote social responsibility.
- Supplier Engagement & Relationship Management: Collaborate with suppliers to promote sustainable practices, including carbon reduction, waste management, and fair labor practices. Assess and develop suppliers' sustainability capabilities, partnering with them to meet our sustainability standards.
- Policy Development & Compliance: Create and implement sustainable procurement policies and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Promote adherence to our code of conduct and sustainability requirements across all supplier relationships.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct sustainability risk assessments within the supply chain, identifying and mitigating environmental, social, and governance risks. Develop strategies to ensure resilience and responsible sourcing.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Legal, Risk, ESG, and Procurement, to align sustainability initiatives with business goals and drive organization-wide adoption of sustainable practices.
- Supplier Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track and measure supplier performance against sustainability metrics. Prepare regular reports on sustainable procurement progress, highlighting areas for improvement and recommending actions to achieve targets.
- Market Research & Best Practices: Stay updated on sustainability trends, emerging best practices, and innovations within sustainable procurement. Identify opportunities to integrate these into the bank's operations and promote best-in-class practices.
- Training & Awareness: Lead sustainability training and awareness initiatives within the procurement team and across the organization to foster a culture of responsible sourcing.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS, ISO 20400) is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in procurement or sustainability roles, ideally within the financial services or banking sector, with a focus on ESG and sustainable sourcing.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of sustainable procurement frameworks (e.g., ISO 20400) and environmental assessment tools. Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP Ariba) and data analysis tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and produce actionable insights for sustainability initiatives.
- Project Management: Proven experience in managing cross-functional projects and initiatives, including stakeholder management, planning, and execution.
- Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage both internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
